Hello, my name is Mrs Williams and I am the Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator (ALNCo) at Golftyn CP.
I have been working in education since 2004 and I have worked at Golftyn as a teacher since 2016. I have extensive experience working with children with additional learning needs, specifically working with children with autism.
Primarily, my role is to identify children who have additional learning needs (ALN) and to work alongside the teachers to ensure the appropriate additional learning provision (ALP) is in place, and is individual to the child. With the new legislation in Wales, I am also responsible for carrying out or making sure that the following tasks are carried out:
- securing relevant services to support the pupil’s Additional Learning Provision
- keeping records of decisions about ALN and Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
- liaising with and providing information to the pupil and parents/carers of the pupil
- promoting inclusion in the school and access to the school’s curriculum, facilities and extra-curricular activities
- advising, supervising and training school staff about differentiated teaching methods appropriate for individual pupils with ALN, and contributing to in-service training
- monitoring the effectiveness of any Additional Learning Provision made
Hi, I am Mrs Phillips and I am the Additional Learning Needs Teaching Assistant (ALNTA) at Golftyn CP.
- At Golftyn I support children predominantly that have an individual development plan (IDP) in progression step 3.
- I work on the targets that have been set during the person-centred practice meetings.
- I also work with small groups to help them improve their phonics skills, spellings and reading.
