French Ambassador update…..

French playground games related to counting have been introduced to the children by the French Ambassadors and French Ambassadors are now going onto the PS1 and PS2 year to play these games with the children.

The French Ambassadors created a set of ‘Helper of the day’ cards to promote the French language within their classrooms and enable the pupils to practise the French language patterns they have learnt.

The French Ambassadors  arranged a French week for the whole school. As part of this week, French Ambassadors were trained up to deliver French weather lessons throughout the school to their peers.

Here are some photos from the lessons that took place:

During the January Inset day, French contacts were set up between Golftyn teachers and the French teachers at Connah’s Quay high school.  During French week, Year 9 pupils came to Golftyn to deliver French lessons to our Year 6 pupils. We are hoping to create more opportunities for high school pupils to  come to deliver sessions to our pupils as it was a huge success.

During the French week, all year groups partnered up with another year group and French reading sessions took place throughout the week.. Year 5 pupils even produced their own French books which they shared with their Reading Buddies.

At the end of French week, the French Ambassadors planned and delivered a French assembly. They produced a programme of the running order and all of the year groups contributed to the assembly.

Finally, Olivia Gibson also arranged a French bingo afternoon for the whole school which is now becoming an annual event!

Next Steps (Summer Term):

  • Introduce new French playground games to the pupils that can be played at break times.
  • French Ambassadors to deliver another lesson to the pupils.
  • French Ambassadors to feedback pupils’ views on French at Golftyn.
